Identified as a Armenia - home to a rich ancient culture - is a mountainous, arid developing country with a wide range of microclimates producing a diverse and distinctive flora and fauna. In fact, the relatively small (29,740 km²) country of Armenia is home to nearly all the types of plants and animals present in the entire southern Caucasus area. The Caucasus region has several bird species and subspecies endemic to the region and Armenia is home to regionally endemic, rare and relict species of plants.
